Financing rural development is one of the most important components of the European policy on sustainable food production. Various funds support small family farms as well as large agricultural enterprises in creating sustainable food production based on the Farm to Fork principle, while expecting food production to become increasingly digitalised and to make use of all available renewable energy sources and circular economy principles.
Fisheries and mariculture are at a developmental crossroads where, over the coming period, mariculture will be increasingly favoured while fisheries will tend towards sustainability, quota reduction, and the modernisation of the entire sector in order to minimise all unnecessary losses.
