Horizon and Interreg projects

Horizon is the European Commission’s largest programme for research and innovation, enabling the financing of multinational project collaboration between public and private organisations, while supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through a dedicated financing instrument. Various Interreg calls offer regional and local public authorities across Europe the opportunity to share ideas and experiences on public policy in practice, thereby improving strategies for their citizens and communities.

These European calls typically have high co-financing rates, and cross-border project cooperation aims to strengthen connections between organisations and facilitate knowledge sharing.

The development of the SUNSAFE IoT product (SMART SUNSHADE) is the result of research, development, and innovation activities that serve the needs of the tourism sector and are in nature aligned with the thematic priority area S3, ENERGY AND SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT, based on innovative technologies grounded in the development of advanced sensor networks within the Internet of Things environment, big data management and analysis, and cloud solutions.

A successful project application in response to the “Integrator” call for project proposals resulted in the signing of a Grant Agreement on 7 December 2020 between PENTA d.o.o. and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovations and Investments.

The project will establish new organisational business methods, and multiple innovative and significantly improved services in the areas of climate change adaptation, energy, and environmental protection will be offered on the market. The new organisational business method at Sensum contributes to the development of four (4) innovative services and two (2) significantly improved services in the field of climate change and adaptation.

By combining official climate data gathered through selective research by Sensum with official projections from the relevant institutions, an innovative platform for the rapid assessment of climate change impacts will be created. Its development will enable users to gain insight into simulations and changes in climate change impacts across the Republic of Croatia from 1971 to 2050.
